Not yet. The platform is currently available in Italian only: the interface and the lessons are in Italian. The answers on this page describe how it works today, for families in Italy. If you would like to see it, you can try it free, keeping in mind that it is in Italian.
It is a study tutor based on artificial intelligence, built specifically for students with specific learning disorders, and dyslexia in particular. It does not hand out the answer: it helps students get there on their own, one step at a time, working on their own study material.
For students aged 5 and over, from primary school through to upper secondary school. It is also suitable for children and young people who show difficulties but do not yet have a certification. For minors, the account is opened and managed by a parent; students who are already 18 register themselves.
No. We do not ask for a diagnosis, and the platform works for any student. If you wish, you can state the type of specific learning disorder — it is optional and requires separate consent — but please note: this information is not used to change the lessons. It serves a different purpose: copyright law allows texts to be made accessible to people with a perceptual or reading disability, such as dyslexia, and stating the disorder allows the student to save the text extracted from the uploaded pages on their own computer or tablet. Without it the platform works in exactly the same way, but the extracted text cannot be saved. The tutor adapts to how the student answers, to their age group and to the material they upload. Never to a clinical label.
No, and it does not aim to. It works at home, in everyday study, alongside teachers, families and specialists — never in their place. It is not a medical tool and does not provide healthcare services: it is a tool for studying.
No, never. It does not diagnose, does not give scores and does not build profiles of the student. It is a design choice, not a promise: the system is built so that it cannot do so.
The student photographs or uploads the pages to study: the textbook, handouts, even handwritten notes. The tutor turns them into an explanation in small steps, and at each step checks that the concept is clear with a multiple-choice question. At the end of the guided path comes the concept map to take away. The map is the goal, not the shortcut.
The tutor does not say “wrong” and does not move on: it explains the concept again in another way and offers a new attempt. Never a judgement. The house rule is this: if the answer is not right, it is the explanation that was not clear enough — and it is up to the tutor to do better, not up to the student to apologise.
No, never. Every lesson comes only from the material the student uploads. What they study on MENTHORAI is exactly what they have been assigned at school — not a generic programme that resembles theirs.
With school subjects: students can upload a history chapter or a physics chapter, and the tutor builds the path on that. When the lesson includes passages in a foreign language — English, French, German or Spanish — they are read by a synthetic voice in that language: the student hears the correct pronunciation and intonation, and trains their ear while studying.
On our own method, Protocol 6 with the BLIP technique, deposited with SIAE, the Italian Society of Authors and Publishers: in practice, a precise way of breaking difficult topics down into small steps and checking understanding at every step. It is developed with the clinical collaboration of Centro Phare Psychè and the scientific advice of Dr Barbara Letteri; MENTHORAI is a member of the European Dyslexia Association. The research we rely on is published, with sources, on the Method and research page.
Every lesson ends with its own map: built on that material and that path, not taken from a standard template. And it comes at the end for a precise reason: the map is the result of the path to understanding, not a shortcut to skip it. The Italian ministerial guidelines of 2011 list concept maps among compensatory tools and specify that these tools relieve students of a task made difficult by the disorder, without making the task cognitively easier: building maps at the end is our methodological choice in that direction. Students save the map on their device, print it and take it with them: for revision and, where the personalised learning plan and the arrangements agreed with the school provide for it, also for oral and written tests.
Yes, always. The platform tells them clearly, in words suited to their age, as European rules on artificial intelligence require. The tutor never pretends to be a person.
Yes. The reading voice is built in and can be chosen: Ric, a male voice, or Valentina, a female voice. The speed can be adjusted at any point in the lesson, to find the right pace for each student. It is not a “special mode” to switch on: it is how it normally works.
With a page that adapts to them, not the other way round. Students choose the typeface they read best among those offered, adjust its size and colour, widen the spacing between lines and letters, and also change the background colour the text appears on. Every setting can be changed at any time, and the platform remembers it. It is all designed for one thing: making reading less tiring.
They are memory anchors: small images that accompany key concepts and help link words to something visible. Associating a concept with a visual reference can help recall it. They can be adjusted too: the student chooses their size and colours.
Yes: the lesson can be saved and resumed another day, from where the student left off.
The platform has been open since 15 September 2026, currently in Italian: just register and start the free trial.
With 7 days free, without entering a credit card. The card is only requested if, at the end of the trial, you decide to subscribe.
For a student who is a minor, a parent or legal guardian: they give consent and remain the account holder. A student who is 18 or over does everything on their own.
A computer or a tablet, a browser and a good connection: there is nothing to install. We do not recommend using a phone, and we say so frankly: such a small screen cuts off the page, tires the eyes and the mind, and does not let the reading settings — larger type, spacing between lines — do their work, and for a student with a specific learning disorder they are half the method.
No. There are no credits to top up, no pages to count and no features unlocked by paying separately: you pay the subscription and that is all. The price does not grow with how much your child studies, and there is no unexpected bill at the end of the month. It is a choice we made from the start: a student for whom studying is already hard work should not have to wonder whether one more lesson will cost something.
For families in Italy, €45 per month, or €450 for a full year — the same as paying for ten months: two are included. You can cancel whenever you like, with no commitment.
No. The subscription allows full, unlimited use, within ordinary personal and family use: students study as much as they need, every day if they need to. There are no hidden costs or pay-per-use charges: the price is what it is. The only rule is common sense, written in the terms of use: one subscription is for one student, and the account cannot be shared. Only in the face of verified evidence of truly extraordinary use would we contact the subscriber — to understand together, not to charge: first of all, to check that the platform is working properly. We are and will remain transparent: if a fair-use threshold were ever needed, we would announce it publicly in advance, and it would never apply retroactively.
On your own, in a minute, from the parent area: no emails to write, no phone calls. With a normal cancellation, access remains active until the end of the period already paid. And within the first 14 days of subscribing, the right of withdrawal applies: everything is cancelled and you are refunded.
Yes. For a second child there is a dedicated offer — €15 per month or €150 per year — activated from the parent area of an existing subscriber. Learning disorders often run in the same family, and a family supporting two paths should not pay full price twice.
Because we want it to be within reach of as many families as possible. MENTHORAI is a Società Benefit, the Italian counterpart of a benefit corporation, and affordable pricing is written into the company's purposes — it is not a marketing promise.
No and no. You pay the subscription and that is all: no advertising, no data sold to anyone. And we have no interest in keeping your child glued to the screen longer than necessary: when the lesson is over, it is over.
Through the way the platform is built, even before the rules. During the lesson there is no box for free writing: the student answers by tapping the options offered. So it is the structure itself, even before the checks, that prevents personal data or inappropriate content from entering the system.
Here the artificial intelligence is not an assistant you ask questions: it is the engine that prepares the lesson, and it works only on the pages the student uploads. It does not go on the internet, does not look for explanations elsewhere, and has precise rules that forbid it from adding facts that are not in the book, such as dates, numbers or names. As with any teacher, an explanation may sometimes be less clear than it should be. That is why every step is followed by a question, and if the student has not understood, the explanation is rephrased. What it cannot do is take the student outside their book.
Every photo or document is checked automatically before it is read. For texts there are two checks, carried out by different systems, and it is enough for one of them to say no. If the material is not suitable for a young person, the lesson does not start and a notice appears. Sensitive topics that are part of the curriculum, such as a history page about war, go through normally: they are study.
Yes, the platform is designed for this. The student never writes freely: they answer by tapping the options offered, so they cannot ask the artificial intelligence anything unrelated to the lesson. The artificial intelligence works only on material that has already been checked, has no internet access and is bound by precise rules on what it can write. In the study area there are no ads, no links to other websites and no contact with other users.
The bare minimum, each for a precise reason. The first name — never the surname — serves one purpose only: making the dialogue natural, so the tutor can call the student by name. Age is not stored as a separate item: the platform calculates it each time from the date of birth, which remains locked in the student's record, and turns it into an age group (for example 9–12) used only to calibrate the language of the explanations. This way the age group grows with the student, and the family can be notified as they approach 18. Preferred reading settings are stored so they do not have to be set again at each login. The type of specific learning disorder is stated only if the family wishes, and is optional: it serves only to allow the student to save the text extracted from the uploaded pages. The Italian tax code (codice fiscale) is used for a moment only, to check that the stated age is true: it is not stored anywhere. And nothing that is collected is used for anything else: no advertising, no profiling, no data resold.
The original photo or PDF is read and immediately discarded: it is never stored. If the student saves a lesson to resume it, we keep only the processed explanation — not the document. Lessons remain available for 6 months, easy to find when needed; then they are deleted automatically. And what is worth keeping stays with the student: the summary and the concept maps can be saved on their own computer or tablet, as can the text of what was uploaded if the type of specific learning disorder has been stated, and maps and summaries can also be printed directly.
Their account data, no. Before anything is sent to the models, the name is removed and replaced with a neutral label; the external system receives the text to be explained and knows only that it is talking to a student in a certain age group — information that serves one purpose only: adapting the language of the lesson. Never the name, never the surname, never the date of birth.
Data stored by MENTHORAI is hosted in the European Union. Some providers are based outside Europe: in those cases processing is covered by the safeguards the GDPR requires, with contracts signed case by case. We have a Data Protection Officer: write to dpo@menthorai.ai, and you will get an answer.
No, and this is deliberate. The parent opens the account, gives consent and manages the subscription — but lessons, answers and progress belong to the student. We fully understand a parent's wish to know how their child is doing. But MENTHORAI is built not to judge and not to give grades, and for consistency it does not produce reports or report cards on the student's activity either: if the tutor became a monitoring tool, it would no longer be a place where you can make mistakes without anyone watching — and that is exactly where a student with a specific learning disorder starts trying again. It is also a choice consistent with our approach: MENTHORAI does not give grades, does not rank the student and does not take decisions about their school career. This choice concerns the parent area and does not limit the rights provided by data protection law. How things are going at school remains a conversation between you, your child and their teachers: we provide the tool; the relationship is yours.
Yes. In Italy, the PDP — the Personalised Learning Plan that schools prepare for students with specific learning disorders — provides for compensatory tools, and MENTHORAI works in exactly that logic: the ministerial guidelines specify that these tools relieve students of a task made difficult by the disorder, without making the task cognitively easier. That is why our concept map comes at the end of the path to understanding, not in place of it.
It is not compulsory: MENTHORAI is used at home, like a private tutor. But talking to the teachers about it is a good idea, and we encourage it: when home and school work in the same direction, the student feels it.
No, and we do not promise it. MENTHORAI works on understanding: that is where grades can improve from, even though many factors are at play. And there is one thing the scientific evidence shows: on top of learning difficulties there can be the weight of stigma, of feeling judged and of losing confidence. Here is what we can guarantee: MENTHORAI will never judge the student, will not break the pact of trust, and will be at their side whenever they want to study — with the attention and care of a tutor who knows their needs. That is where we work: lifting the weight of judgement, one step at a time. We have written it in our Credo, and we invite you to read it.
